The Harper Adams Students Union Executive positions are all non-sabbatical, except for the President. All positions are filled by full time, first year Students and take on the various roles voluntarily around their course timetables.

The Students Union Executive

The Students Union (SU) Executives are voted in every year at the end of January, and consist of a fine, outstanding bunch of first years. The elections are held over two nights, with a speech being made by each candidate before being asked questions from the voting masses. See bottom of page for further details.

Voting must be completed at the elections and cannot be done in advance.
Results are declared on the night amid much excitement...

So what have the SU Achieved lately over the last year?

• Online polls so you can give us your vote on campus issues (Website Officer)
• Feedback and SU responses now published on this website (Secretary & Website Officer)
• New professional high quality CDJs (DJ decks to you and me) for the SU Main Bar (Technical Manager)
• New high-quality projectors for both the SU Lounge Bar and Main Bar (Technical Manager)
• Thousnds of pounds raised for charity (RAG Team!!)
• A Scoreboard for Wednesday afternoons so you can effortly see how well Harper are doing! (Sports Secretary)
• All clubs & societies now have their own page on this website (Website Officer, Sports Secretary & Societies Rep)
• New Bar Entry ID-ing system. Hopefully making things quicker (Treasurer)

So, you want to run for a position?

The only criteria are that you are a first year degree student and you are not an HND Student; unless you are running to be the HND Representative*.

Elections are held at the end of January/start of February. Positions are subject to a formal application and interview, before delivering a speech to the Student Body on Election Night. Votes are polled on Eelction Night and results declared several hours after.

If you are interested in running for a position, it is never too early to speak to the student currently holding that position. Any experience you can gain in the relevant position will be an added bonus to both your application, interview and speech. Good luck!

The SU Executive is also often joined by The International Rep and the Harper Ireland Chairman at meetings, due to large numbers being represented by both clubs.

*As HND students are on placement during their second academic year.
